About the Event
TOBIN’s Dr. Mark Richards will speak at this year’s Engineers Ireland ‘West Region’ CPD course taking place on Tuesday, 28th February, in Galway. This course, which will cover a number of engineering areas which have played a central role in the shaping of both our culture and our heritage, is being run over five consecutive Tuesday evenings, having commenced on February 7th. With a great line up of eleven speakers from across the industry, this event covers archaeological heritage, conservation, industrial heritage, engineering, the arts and finally urban redevelopment. CPD certificates will also be issued to those who attend all five modules.
Dr. Richards will present on the topic of ‘Engineering Aspects of Artistic Structures in the Public Realm’ as part of proceedings taking place on the fourth evening. This specific evening focuses on ‘Engineering and the Arts’. Mark will be joined by Neil Keaveney, Director of Technology at TG4, who will present on his own particular area of expertise, ‘TG4 – An Engineering Perspective’.
About the Speaker
Dr. Mark Richards is the Managing Director of TOBIN-UK. Mark has a wealth of industry experience having joined TOBIN from CH2M London, where he was the European Sales Director of their Industrial and Advanced Technology Division, which employs over 200 staff in the UK. Prior to joining CH2M, Mark worked as an Associate Director with the Robert Bird Group, and with ARUP where notably he project managed and led, the structural engineering design of Heron Tower – one of London’s tallest and most prestigious buildings.
Mark is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers and a member of the Institute of Industrial Designers. In addition to this, he is a Fellow of London’s South Bank University where he serves as Chair of its Industrial Advisory Board. Mark also acts as an advisor to the Trade Commissioner of the ‘Canadian High Commission on Structural Engineering and Tall Buildings’ and is an expert Technical Panel Member of the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
