Here at TOBIN, we understand the importance of having access to and maximising the use of good public space, especially now during these challenging times. While mass gatherings have been restricted for the time being, it is more important than ever to have carefully designed public spaces in our villages, towns, and cities, to promote a culture of wellbeing, while retaining social and economic life.
We are very supportive of the Department of Tourism, Culture & Arts’ announcement last week on the roll out of the new “Outdoor Public Space Scheme” which aims to support new and improved public spaces for cultural activities and events, whilst following Health & Safety guidelines. This future-proofed scheme will benefit the Tourism and Hospitality sectors in particular and will also support the Night-time Economy, a priority for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media – Catherine Martin, TD.
The projects delivered from this scheme will provide year-round use, dedicated to the arts and entertainment sector, transforming towns, villages, and cities into creative spaces for people to gather in a safe environment.
TOBIN fully supports this scheme, and we will continue to provide project management, engineering and cost control support to the development of high quality, sustainable public spaces, to be enjoyed by communities across Ireland.
