Donegal Waste Water Treatment Scheme – Group A

This project consisted of the construction of 3 wastewater treatment plants at Donegal (12,000p.e.), Ballyshannon (7,400p.e.) and Rossnowlagh (4,000p.e.) which form the Donegal Wastewater Treatment Scheme Group A.

TOBIN were appointed by BAM Civil Ltd. to prepare the Design, Drawings and Details for the Civil Engineering Works and the Structural Engineering Works at each of the three wastewater plants.

Donegal Town: Works included the construction of a main pump station, a steel framed sludge dewatering building, a sludge handling tankage, storage tanks and 1 administration building. There is approx. 3,700m of 450mm diameter foul water rising main, 3,300m of 450mm diameter final effluent rising main and 1 450mm diameter Sea Outfall c/w 6 no. diffusers.

Ballyshannon Town: Construction of 1 steel framed sludge dewatering building and 1 administration building, precast concrete process tanks and cast insitu concrete inlet works, splitting chamber and sludge handling PS. There is approx. 2,200m of 315mm diameter foul water rising main, 700m of 450mm diameter final effluent outfall and 1 – 315mm diameter Sea Outfall c/w 3 No. diffusers.

Rossnowlagh: Rossnowlagh comprises of approx 1,500m of 150mm diameter twin foul water rising main, 1,800m of 450mm diameter final effluent outfall, and 1 No. 450mm diameter sea outfall c/w 3 no. diffusers. It also consists of 1 steel framed sludge dewatering building and 1 administration building.
