This project was implemented to improve the water quality of the River Boyne, to comply with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive and to improve the potential for continued development of the town. This project consisted of 2 phases.
Phase 1 was designed to treat wastewater from an equivalent population of 167,000 persons. This allowed for a large amount of effluent from the brewing and food processing industries, and included the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Works and the upgrading and rehabilitation of the existing sewerage network.
Phase 2 of this scheme was the expansion of the treatment capacity to cater for a population of 220,000 people.
TOBIN were appointed to act as Consulting Engineers for this project and provided detailed design, contract procurement and supervision of the construction phase and contract administration. In 2003, TOBIN were appointed to procure a 20 year Operation and Maintenance Contract for Dundalk Waste Water Treatment Plant.
