The project consisted of 24 No. wind turbines, a substation, BESS and a proposed amenity park. From 2016 to 2019, the team undertook a range of environmental and engineering assessments and surveys within and surrounding the boundary of the proposed wind farm application. We were also involved in Public Consultation events, meetings with An Bord Pleanála, Longford County Council and many relevant stakeholders and statutory bodies. The EIAR detailed all relevant environmental baseline studies and impact assessments. Additional responsibilities included the preparation and submission of the Strategic Infrastructure Development (S.I.D.) Application to An Bord Pleanála, which included a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) and an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR).

The EIAR detailed all relevant environmental baseline studies and impact assessments and the Project Manager contributed chapters to the report including the introductory chapters, project description, shadow flicker, interaction of the foregoing and a schedule of all mitigation measures proposed for the project. Additional responsibilities included the preparation of a detailed Constraints Map which informed the project design and co-ordination of site investigation and baseline surveys at the proposed project location. We were also the lead consultants at the An Bord Pleanála Oral Hearing for this proposed development (on behalf of Bord na Móna) in June 2019, providing scientific evidence as expert witnesses. This Hearing ultimately led to a successful decision by the Board in June 2020. The decision was overturned following a Judicial Review in 2021. The project is currently under review.
