TOBIN: Irish Independent Property Awards
TOBIN shortlisted for two Irish Independent ‘Property Industry Excellence Awards’.
TOBIN Consulting Engineers has been shortlisted in two categories for this year’s Irish Independent ‘Property Industry Excellence Awards’. This awards programme is designed to independently recognise the highest standards of professionalism and excellence across the entire property sector, and has been established as a partnership between all property industry stakeholders. Furthermore, these awards are endorsed by all professional bodies and representative groups within our industry.
Our two nominations are in the following categories: the ‘Community Benefit Project Award’ and the ‘Conservation Project Award’. The Community Benefit award recognizes projects that have directly contributed to the local community. The project that we put forward for this category is the Bunratty Folk Park project – a retail upgrade for local SMEs within the Bunratty region. This project has been successful in breeding new life into the local community with partnerships having been created with an extensive amount of local SME businesses. Local employment is up, both on site at Bunratty and indirectly from a large number of SME businesses who have expanded their operations on the back of this specific project and the platform that it has provided for their future use.
The Conservation Award is set out to recognise the project that demonstrates the highest standards in restoration or conservation. Our shortlisted project, the National Horse Sport Arena (NHSA), is a multi-use, Olympic-standard, equestrian training facility based within the protected garden walls of Abbotstown House – an early nineteenth century country estate. Over time, the estate, and the walled garden in particular, had fallen into considerable disrepair. The entire NHSA is now enclosed within the protected garden walls of Abbotstown House. These walls, constructed in the 1830’s, became central to the design objectives of the NHSA layout at a very early stage. As the structural condition of the walls had become undermined, specific remedial works, sympathetic to the original features, were essential. It was paramount to the client, Sport Ireland, and to the project team that all new works at this site maintained the integrity of these historic structures.
The Property Industry Excellence Awards night takes place on the 10th of November and we look forward to what promises to be a great night viewing some of Ireland’s top building projects.
