TOBIN provided Civil & Structural Engineering services for the delivery of the new €2.8 million Athenry Fire Station. Officially opened on November 15th, 2024, by Minister of State Anne Rabbitte TD and Cathaoirleach of Galway County Councillor Albert Dolan, this state-of-the-art 400m² facility represents a significant investment in the region’s fire and rescue services.
Located at Ballygarraun South on a site acquired from the IDA in 2021, the station was funded by the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management (NDFEM) and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The facility includes advanced training amenities and innovative firefighting capabilities, such as unmanned ground vehicles for remote firefighting and hazardous materials incidents.
TOBIN worked alongside Galway County Council, Galway Fire and Rescue Service, Vincent Hannon Architects, Coolsivna Construction Ltd, Coffey Consulting Engineers, and Tom McNamara & Partners to successfully deliver this essential community asset.
